A quoi sert exactement la librairie "clib_jiio.dll" ?

Bonjour,

J'ai repris un projet traitant des images, projet en grande partie en JAVA, sous Windows.
Dans l'installation de l'environnement se trouvaient entre autre:

Lorsqu'on a installé l'application sur une nouvelle machine, on a oublié de lancer l'application "jai_imageio-1_0_01-lib-windows-i586-jdk.exe".

Remarque : sur la machine initiale, on avait la ligne suivante dans la liste des programmes intallés :
JAI Image I/O Tools 1.0_01 for JDK.

Si je ne me trompe pas, cette application installe :

Voilà donc mes questions :
* L'application "jai_imageio-1_0_01-lib-windows-i586-jdk.exe" installe-t-elle autre chose?
* Quelle est l'utilité exacte de "clib_jiio.dll" ? Est-ce normal que le projet tourne sans ? L'application finale changera-t-elle de comportement si j'ajoute cette DLL ? Et enfin, puis-je juste ajouter cette DLL, sans lancer l'application oubliée?

C'est plutôt urgent et très important, donc n'hésitez pas à répondre même pour des indications partielles.

Salut,

Il s'agit tout simplement d'une dll qui a été développée en C++ pour avoir des performances optimales pour le système Windows (la version linux installe quand à elle un .so).

JAI peut se passer (il me semble) de cette dll, mais fonctionnera au ralentit : les entrées/sorties se feront en Java, et Java est lent pour tout ce qui est I/O par rapport à une librairie native concue spécialement pour le système sur lequel elle tourne.

Pour les autres dll, je ne sais pas, j'ai jamais fait le test, mais ca doit sûrement être décrit dans la doc officielle de JAI !

Ca m'aide déjà pas mal.
Donc en gros, c'est normal que le projet tourne sans, et si j'ajoute cette DLL, je gagnerais juste en perf vitesse, c'est bien ça?

Sinon, quelqu'un a-t-il d'autres précisions à m'apporter, SVP?
Sur l'application "jai_imageio-1_0_01-lib-windows-i586-jdk.exe" par exemple, installe-t-elle autre chose que les jar et la DLL citée?
